To work on pressing, start scrimmage in a pressing situation, re-start play after - a defensive rebound
- a defensive rebound or made basket (break on a steal)
- ball out of bounds
- one trip or two trips.
Other options to emphasize pressing and breaking the press: - one day the ball has to cross halfcourt on the dribble, the next day on the pass (Greg Kampe)
- other restrictions
- use only one side of the court (2 on 2 fullcourt)
- more defenders than attackers (5 on 6 or 7), or vice versa, to halfcourt or fullcourt
- the first team presses the second team (Xavier)
- play fullcourt to a stop or score then the same team always inbounds, both ways
- start with an inbounds play, or free throw (free-throw break).
