| 1 Don Kelbick breakthroughbasketball.com
This can be run out of other sets such 2-3 or 2-2-1.
1)
1 passes to 2, who can shoot or drive, 1 UCLA cuts to the low post using 4's backscreen, 5 dives weakside. |
| 2 a) Basic set
2 passes to 4 and downscreens for 1, 5 ducks in. 3 is isolated for a shot or drive, or if X5 plays over the top when 5 ducks in, a good seal by 5 will open up a baseline pass from 3.
See Offence - Larry Brown 1-4 (UCLA duck-in). |

| 5 c) Play for weakside post
1 cross-screens for 5, 4 downscreens for 1 (creating action to clear the low post).
See Offence - Break 2. |
| 6 d) Reverse (play for 3 or 5)
2 passes to 4 then 5, 1 and 2 screen for 3. |
| 7 4 passes to 3, 1 and 2 stagger screen for 5.
See Fast breaks - Old Dominion ("X"). |
| 8 2) Play for 2
1 dribbles at 2 who backcuts and posts, 4 steps out, 5 dives, 1 passes to 4.
|
| 9 3 steps out for a pass, 1 and 4 stagger screen for 2.
See Offence - UCLA as a play for 1.
|
| 10 3) For strongside post
1 passes to 2, 4 steps up to backscreen but 1 uses his hands to push 4 down to the low post, then 1 pops out.
|
| 11 2 passes to 1, 5 pops out for a pass from 1, 2 rub cuts over 4, 4 ducks in off 2's cut, 1 widens out.
A rub cut is designed to strip a top-side low-post defender. 2 must go over the top and make contact, on his chest, with X4, and make him step backward into the lane, opening up the 5-4 passing lane.
|
| 12 5 passes to 1, 4 seals (if X4 is still over the top a proper seal will open up a passing lane to the baseline by 1), 3 and 5 stagger screen for 2 to strip weakside post help and create an excellent scoring opportunity.
