Tubby Smith 40 series
 | 1 Tubby Smith 2008 DVD & FIBA Assist, issue 3 40 Blind pig (backdoor). 4 takes his man down and pops back, 1 passes to 4. 2 tries to bring his man above 4 then back cuts, continues to the weakside block, then uses a staggered screen from 3 and 5. 1 cuts for a hand-off from 4, who then sets a ballscreen if 1 does not turn the corner or shoot. If there is no hand-off, 1 goes to the wing, 4 will dribble hand-off, or pass to 1 and ballscreen. |
 | 2 41 1 passes to 2 then UCLA or shuffle cuts off 4's backscreen to the block. |
 | 3 a) FIBA Assist 1 posts up, the ball is reversed from 2 to 4 to 5 to 3, 2 flex cuts using a screen from 1, who then cuts up top using a staggered screen from 4 and 5. |
 | 4 b) 2008 4 ballscreens for 2, 3 and 5 stagger screen for 1 (everything ends with a weakside stagger). |
 | 5 42 America's play. 1 dribbles at 2, 2 backcuts then screens for 3, 4 and 5 doublescreen for 2 then cross and go to opposite low posts (X-out). Options - if there is strong ball pressure, 1 can first rub his defender off a screen set by 4 - 1 can pass to 2, then 1 is the guy going in to screen for 3. 42 Pinch is the same play except 2 cuts up between 4 and 5. 43 is the same play run to the other side. |
 | 6 Variation - 3 stops at the ballside block, on a pass to 2, 5 and 4 stagger for 3 to come back out. |
 | 7 44 4 and 5 screen for 1. When 1 uses 4, 2 backcuts, backscreens for 5, then uses a downscreen from 4 (screen the screener). If X5 goes under the backscreen, 5 goes over and beats him to the block; if X5 jumps over the backscreen, 5 goes behind looking for a lob pass. Often X2 will help on 5, if X3 helps on 2 coming out, look for a skip pass to 3. FIBA Assist - only 4 screens for 1. 45 is the same play on the other side. |
 | 8 46 a) FIBA Assist Similar to 44 except that 3 cuts in the lane and sets the first backscreen for 5, then clears back out to the wing (see the quick hitter Argentina zero). 47 is the same play run on the other side. |
 | 9 b) 2008 1 dribbles to the right wing, below the foul-line extended to feed the post. 2 and 3 go down to the blocks, 4 diagonal downscreens for 3, who cuts up, 2 screens for 4 to come to the block. |
 | 10 5 scrape screens for 2 on a pass to 3. 47 is the same play on the other side. |
 | 11 48 (FIBA Assist) 2 screens for 3 then 5 then 4. |
