1-4 set against a 2-2-1 (or 2-1-2) zone, it's not much different.
Inbound to the ballside guard, 5 gets behind the second-line defender, 2 slashes to the middle (deeper than normal, see if X2 goes with him), 3 goes all the way down. |

| 2 In most 2-2-1's, X1 invites 1 to go up the sideline, and 1 takes the invitation, 5 drops as 1 dribbles up.
Eventually X3 will come to trap, 1 has to know where he is going to pass if he dribbles across halfcourt. 1 may be able to split X1 and X3 off the dribble.
Against a 2-2-1 or 2-1-2, 1 can't just get the ball and pass it back to 4, dribble up and try to draw defenders.
|

| 3 1 looks for an open player upcourt. On ball reversal to 4, 3 comes back for a pass, 2 slashes, so does 1.
If a defender is cheating towards 4, he would come all the way directly behind 1, completely distorting the defence, those are easy to beat.
