Press breaks 1-4 set
| 1 1-4 set (four across)
1 screens for 2 then goes back to the outlet spot, 5 screens for 3 then goes to the top of the key as a release option. Option - pause for a second against a 1-2-1-1, 4 should be able to hit one of the wings before the screening action. For another way to get 5 in position as a release option (using a stagger screen), see 1-4 Press Break (Basketball for Coaches), Xavier (4-across). Four Across Press Break (YouTube) - outside players screen for the inside players, who curl around and go deep, then the ballside screener screens for the weakside screener. a) 4 looks for 2 or 3 over the top. |
| 2 b)
1 cuts up the middle if denied, if 5 gets the inbounds pass, look to hit 1, 2 and 3 run wide.
|
| 3 c)
If 5 is denied, 2 and 3 break back to help, 4 looks for 1 going long.
If there is no long pass to 1, 4 inbounds to 2 or 3, 1 breaks to the ballside sideline looking for a pass, 5 stays in the middle.
|
| 4 d)
If 1 is open and gets the inbounds pass, 4 comes in ballside behind the ball, look for 5 in the middle (then 3 opposite).
If 1 passes back to 4, 2 goes long middle, 3 flashes back. Option - 4 spaces weakside behind the ball, see Press breaks - 2-1-2. |
