Defending
Woodley closeouts

a) 3-line closeouts

Players pass to a coach and close out. They have three types of closeout,

- Wade (left wing) - a player who can do everything, shoot and drive (in this drill, no baseline drive with pack defence)
- Miller (top) - catch and shoot player, make him put it on the floor (just take away a shot)
- Rondo (right wing) - straight-line driver (close out short, don't give him any angle, coach can start to drive middle or baseline).

All closeouts should be one hand high, one hand low, not both hands up, you're just going to get beat in a straight line.

Coaches pass to the next players, defenders go off, continue, close out on each coach once.

b) 2-line closeouts

Use two out of three closeouts.

1 passes to coach on the left wing, closes out (a Rondo closeout), coach drives then passes to the top, 1 gets to a gap position.

2 passes out top, closes out (a Wade closeout), and jumps to a gap position on a pass to the right wing.

(Variation - coaches drive and kick, defenders stunt and recover)
