3 on 1 shell
Options and progressions to work on individual defensive situations, X1 guards 1, use two other attackers (coaches or players).

X1 guards 1 at the top, jumps to a gap or deny position on a pass to either wing.
Option - to start, X1 passes to 1 and closes out.
Close out on a pass back to 1.
Attackers pass and hold, then move the ball.
Progression - skip passes.
Get 1 on a wing, X1 defends on the ball, one pass and two passes away from the ball.
1 passes, basket cuts and exits weakside, X1 jumps to the ball, forcing a backcut. 3 fills.
Progression - 1 cuts, posts up then exits weakside.

- 1 cuts to the weakside corner, blast cuts from there on ball reversal
- to get 1 back out top and repeat on the other side, have 3 pass back to 2 and basket cut, X1 tags the cutter, 1 fills the top.
Variation - 1 waves through 2 (or 3) and dribbles to the wing, 3 fills the top, see Defending - Izzo closeouts, Wootten perimeter-to-post.
X1 guards 1 on the wing, a help position.
2-3-1 play catch, X1 goes from help to gap (or deny) to on-ball defence.
Option - deny a wing entry.

3 can pass to 1 or drive left and kick, X1 helps and recovers.

1 passes to 3, basket cuts, and comes back out to the wing. X1 denies the cut.
