Zone offence Nets chin series
| 1 Lawrence Frank New Jersey Nets
The Nets will run a lot of quick hitters to screen the zone and get the ball to scorers in positions where they can be effective. In general they want to: - make 2 defenders play one attacker - attack the short corner (heels to the baseline) and middle - attack from behind - pick and roll - screen the zone - place attackers in the grey areas of the zone, not matched up with defenders.
The chin series is based on the Princeton offence. |
| 2 a) Pick and roll
3 looks to attack the short corner with a pass to 1.
5 screens the closest and most logical defender. The Nets don't care about screening the outside of the zone because they end up in a 4-out set. |
| 3 2 can look to throw back to 3.
3 flashes from behind the zone, 1 moves into vision.
|
| 4 b) Sell pick and roll, looking for catch and shoot
|
| 5 Basic chin set against a zone
1 yells "zone" as he cuts through.
|
| 6 With the ball in the corner, defenders are all in the paint, the Nets like to get the ball back up top.
(Possible variation - 3 cuts to the other corner, see the Blue and China zone attacks.)
|
| 7 X-action by 4 and 5.
