Tactics Dribble-drive motion
| 1 5 on 0, starting with a kickup, the following patterns can be used to rehearse dribble-drive motion. Optionally start with a kickback (middle drive) and finish with a backdoor. A kickup can lead to a kickback or kickup, a kickback leads to a kickup (or backcut).
See Offences - Walberg, Calipari and Nets dribble-drive, Shooting - Dribble-drive, Tactics - 4 on 0 kick-out.
a) Kickup, kickup b) Kickup, kickback c) Kickup, kickup, kickback
To start, 1 drives, kicks up to 2, goes to the corner. 2 is patient, a backdoor cut is the default option, run the kickup only if the defence takes away the backcut.
3 lifts on 1's drive (drags up, 1 has a skip pass), goes back on the kickup. |
| 2 a) Kickup, kickup
After the 1-2 kickup, 2 kicks up to 3, 4 kicks back and replaces 1, 2 replaces 3, 5 relocates.
Calipari - 3 comes out of the corner when 2 gets to the middle.
Mads Olesen - 1 will stay in his corner then look for drop-zone options on any stop.
|
| 3 To re-set, 3 passes across the top to 4, all perimeter players have rotated one position, 5 crosses the lane.
Re-start with a 4-1 kickup, 1-2 kickup, pass across the top etc.
|
| 4 Continue until all players are back where they started, 1 drives, 2 backcuts and 5 comes up to the elbow. 1 can pass to 2 or 5 (2 then 1 clear with a pass to 5, see Walberg).
|
| 5 b) Kickup, kickback
After the 1-2 kickup, 2 kicks back to 4 and replaces 3.
Variation - 3 stays in the corner, 2 replaces 4 (3 is not involved in the rotation).
|
| 6 Continue with a 4-1 kickup, 1-3 kickback etc.
|
| 7 c) Kickup, kickup, kickback
After the 1-2 kickup, 2 kicks up to 3.
|
| 8 3 kicks back to 4 and replaces 1.
Continue with a (4-2) kickup, kickup, kickback.
Progression - follow a kickup with either a kickback or kickup (and a kickback with a kickup).
See Scrimmage - Pasquali 4 on 4 stunt-recover.
