Press Breaks PGC

| 1 Mano Watsa
Two forwards are at halfcourt (3-4-5).
1)
1 and 2 break for an inbounds pass (they can screen for each other, roll back).
Every good press break has three nearby receivers. 5 flashes back to the ball, 4 flashes back or goes long (get open or get out). 3 steps inbounds.
**
This is a 2-up press break where a forward fills the middle, not a guard. Flip-flop 4 and 5 to get 4 flashing from the left (and 5 going long).
See Press breaks - Hammer and Breaker (Breaker), Canada Basketball.
Against a hot press (e.g. a 1-2-1-1), have 4 flash back on the sideline (Bill Self 1-3-1, Hackenberg 2-Up, Hammer and Breaker, Double Middle). |

| 2 1 can beat the press on the pass, on the dribble, or reverse the ball. |

| 3 (Options on a pass to 5)
a)
2 breaks up the sideline looking for a pass.
Press Break 1-2-2 - flash the opposite post for a pass, he hits 2 going up the sideline. Always have a man in the middle and a trailer at 45 degrees.
Breaker - 2 releases up the sideline as 5 flashes middle. |

| 4 b)
3 is overplayed, cuts up for a handoff on the pass to 5.
See Press Breaks - Blind Pig. |

| 5 2)
If 1 and 2 can't get an inbounds pass, 5 is the release, flashing right to the foul line for a pass, and can hit either of the wings and advance the ball.
(Options)
- 4 cuts upcourt middle (get a big in the middle) - 3 can cut up for a hand-back from 5.
1-2-2 Fullcourt Press Break - 4 is on the left, 5 on the right. 4 sprints behind the foul line for a pass, 5 goes in behind (upcourt middle), 1 and 2 go upcourt, 3 comes in and can get a dribble handoff.
Hackenberg 2-Up (Man pressure) - 1 and 2 break up the sidelines, the inbounder cuts up the middle and gets a handback from 5.
Xavier (2-Up) - the 5-man starts upcourt middle. |

| 6 3)
3 can inbounds pass and wait, then cut up the middle if 5 does not flash back, 2 replaces 3 as the trailer. |
