Defending Woodley 2 on 2 ballscreens
| 1 |
| 2 X2 yells "nail', X5 yells "low".
Coach dribbles and passes to 2, X2 closes out, 5 ballscreens (he can set a step-up screen), it's live. |
| 3 X5 yells "ice", his drop spot is one marker above the high-school block, X2 drives 2 down. |
| 4 b) Big-up
Any time a 4 or 5 catches the ball up top, if he passes and runs to ballscreen, that is really hard to ice, so force a wing catch out as high as possible, allowing the big to get into ice coverage.
Coach passes to 5, X2 denies 2 (saying to 5 put it on the floor, make a play), forces a catch further out, 5 follows to ballscreen. |
| 5 2 drives it down, 5 pops. |
| 6 2 passes to 5, X5 closes out. |
| 7 5 makes a dribble-handoff to 2, X2 and X5 slide this (X2 goes through a gap to a no-middle stance). |
| 8 5 comes right back into a step-up screen, ice it.
Money option - if X2 gets screened hard and 2 is barrelling at X5, X5 can call switch or money |
| 9 c) Middle ballscreen
The call is "weak" in the middle of the floor.
5 runs up to pick and pop, X5 yells "weak", X2 can go over or under, but wants to go under 3 out of 4 times. X5's drop position is above the no-charge semi-circle, he matches 2's numbers as he comes off the screen.
|
| 10 2 bounce passes to 5, X5 closes out, X2 denies a return pass (big up).
X2 should not allow a direct pass (strike) out of the pick and roll. |
| 11 5 passes back to 2, chases to ballscreen, X5 has to say "ice" and his drop has to be low. |
| 12 If 2 is able to drive middle, X2 has to spin under so 5 has to roll through him.
X5 matches 2's number. |
| 13 d) Big-up - Money in Ice (switch)
Coach passes to 5, X2 denies and forces a catch further away, 5 ballscreens.
|
| 14 X2 drives it down (ice), X5 can come up higher because they are switching, has a no-middle stance, X2 gets his butt inside 5. |
