1 on 1 Fosters

a)
Attacker 1 is at halfcourt, defender 2 is at the top of the key, other players are opposite coach, with one ball.
On "go", 1 runs to the top of the key then back, defender 2 touches the baseline then comes out, coach passes to 1, it's live, one shot only.
The attacker's biggest advantage is speed, pick a shoulder and attack it. |
| 2 1 gets to the top of the key as the next defender, 2 rebounds, dribbles outside coach for a layup at the far end, and gets the ball to 4, 3 passes to coach and is the next attacker (attack, defend, go off).
See Transition - Calipari 11. |
| 3 b)
Work both sides, with players on each baseline and sideline. The defender passes to the attacker then defends, either fullcourt (shown for 3), back to halfcourt and turn (usually, shown for 1), or get right back. One shot, then the next group goes, switch lines at the other end.
Switch sides. Fabian McKenzie - Kentucky drill - defenders roll the ball to attackers from the foul-line extended and close out to contain the ball. See 1 on 1 - Spurs, Hot knife through butter. |
