Look for handling the ball with both hands, eyes off the ball and upcourt, protection off the ball, control of the ball, and quickness with the ball.
a) Fullcourt dribbling (shown)
Four players on the baseline dribble upcourt with their right hand at medium speed, at the other end they switch hands and dribble back with their left hand. Evaluate control of the ball not speed.
b) Obstacle
Dribble the body-balance obstacle course using crossover dribbles, at the end of the slalom come to a complete stop in front of the barrier, pause for a moment in a standing control dribble, use a spin move and speed dribble with the left hand toward the next chair or cone, crossover and cut off to the right and on to the finish line. See Try-outs - Kris Treat physical evaluation.
c) Pressure dribble
An attacker has a ball on the baseline with a defender in front of about the same size. The attacker dribbles upcourt while trying to protect the ball from the defender, who is trying to turn the attacker and make him change hands. Evaluate the dribbler and on-ball defence.
