Basketball Systems, Skills & Drills

American Basketball Quarterly, 2006Q4

Two balls in the passing line, 1 sprints toward the passing line, 3 calls 1's name and passes, 1 jump stops (ball in the air, feet in the air), steps toward a pass to 2 and calls his name. 2 sprints forward as the ball is passed from 3 to 1, makes a 45-degree cut to the basket, calls for the ball, makes a layup with the correct hand.

Players rotate clockwise, 3 rebounds (the ball can't touch the floor), gets it to the passing line (optionally 1 or 2 rebounds).

Make 20 in a row from each side.

Progression - make the jump-stop line pass through pressure, coach is a defender.
See Layups - Florida.
