a) Double
Against a 2-3, 3-2 or 1-1-3.
1 dribbles opposite 4 and 5, 2 sprints to the other guard spot, 4 screens with 5, 3 comes hard off the double screen on a pass to 2. |
| 2 4 screens in, 5 steps to the soft part of the zone looking for a pass from 2 or from 3. 2 reads X3, who has to guard two players, 5 and 3. |
| 3 b) Screen away
On the pass to 2 (a good passer), 5 goes shoulder to shoulder with middle defender X5 (not too high), 3 slides to the dead corner, 4 sprints across to seal low defender X3. 2 looks for a lob pass to 4 at the far side of the basket, or a skip pass to 3 if X3 fights inside to take away the lob pass, then 4 screens in for 3, turns and seals.
Option - 2 takes a dribble to improve the passing angle. |
| 4 c) Screen middle
4 is on the first marker, 2 and 3 are in the dead corners. 1 drives hard to 4's side, 5 tries to get an angle to the baseline, 1 ball fakes to 4, passes to 3 and follows, 5 screens the middle for 4, who goes hard underneath. |
