a) Breakaway offence drill - test how hard a player goes when he doesn't have to. A player is on the baseline, a coach with a ball tells him to go, coach leads with him a baseball pass, the player catches about halfcourt and dribbles for a layup. The score is 10 for great effort, 5 for moderate effort, and 0 for no effort.
b) Breakaway defence drill - add a defender, who must wait until coach makes the baseball pass before trying to catch the attacker. If the defender sprints down and puts himself in position to rebound a missed layup, that's a 10; if he jogs or stops he gets a 5 or 0. |
