Shooting String 3s
| 1 Brian McCormick YouTube
Drive and kick for catch-and-shoot 3-point shots.
a) 3-line
Players at the top have balls. 1 passes to 2 (or 3) who drives baseline or middle.
On a baseline drive, 1 fills behind and 3 drifts to the corner, 2 passes to 3 for a shot.
(Option - 2 can pass to 1 filling behind) |

| 3 b) 3 on 0
Three players. 1 shoots, rebounds, passes to 3 (or 2) and closes out. |
| 4 3 drives, passes to 2, who shoots, 3 exit cuts. |
| 5 2 rebounds, passes to 1, closes out, 1 drives and kicks to 3, who shoots.
3 will rebound, pass to 2 and close out, then 2 drive and kick to 1 for a shot.
Option - the rebounder can pass to either player.
See YouTube video - 3-person partner string shooting. |

| 8 d) 3 on 2
His favourite shooting drill, it's game-like because there is defence and decision-making - drive, pass, or shoot. Defenders X1-X2 pass to attackers 1-2-3, who can drive and kick or pass for a catch-and-shoot 3 (there are no pull-ups, mid-range shots or layups). One shot only, rotate players on each possession. (Variation - allow drives for open layups) Progression - 3 on 3 wildcat - add a third defender, no shot restrictions, but all catches must be outside the 3-point line or on a direct cut to the basket (e.g. no passes to players cutting away from the basket inside the 3-point line). See YouTube video - 5-person partner string shooting. Also see Shooting - Advantage, Attack/defend - 3 on 3 kickout, Scrimmage - 4 on 4 cutters. |
