Fast breaks Suns 5-out
| 1 Mike MacKay guelphbasketball.com
The 5-out transition offence of the Phoenix Suns keeps the floor spread and doesn't clog the rim with post players. Any player who attacks the basket (e.g., on a backcut) quickly exits to keep the rim open. See Offence - Mike D'Antoni. Basic set 1 (Nash) passes to 3, cuts to the basket and screens for 4 (little on big), then 5 screens for Nash. |
| 2 4 exits cuts, 5 comes back to ballscreen for 1 (different angles). |
| 3 Variations
Stagger
After screening for 4, Nash stagger screens with 5 for 2 (a shooter) |
| 4 Fake the screen
Nash fakes the basket cut, self replaces for a pass from 3, 5 immediately ballscreens, catching hedger X5 out of position. |
| 5 Screen for the corner
Nash passes to 3, screens for 2, 3 passes to 5, 2 backscreens for 3, Nash backscreens for 4. If X1 helps on the backscreen, Nash gets the ball on the wing and they ballscreen. |
