a) 1 on 1
Point defender X2 gets the ball out of the middle and doesn't let it come back.
Progression - X2 distorts a horizontal pass. |

X2 and X3 trap 1.
Progression - and contest passes to 4 and 3 (Corno).
Change sides (X2 and X4 trap 1). |
| 3 c) 1 on 3 herding
Ed DeChellis - 1 tries to drive a seam against X2, X5 and X3.

Point and wing defenders.
Corno
a) the ball must be dribbled over halfcourt, and attackers can't post in the middle of the floor
b) X2 and X3 trap 1, who passes to 4, X4 comes out on the ball, X3 dives weakside to contest a diagonal pass to 3. |

Perimeter attackers pass the ball, X5 contests 5, staying between the ball and the basket.
Scariolo
a) start 4 on 0, four perimeter attackers against X5, with no offensive post, end with a shot then 5 on 0 to the other basket
b) 5 on 1 with offensive post, 1 on 1 if the post gets a pass, on a pass back out for a shot, 5 boxes out. |

Scariolo - work on trapping the deep corners, box out when coach gives a signal to shoot. Attackers use a two-guard and one-guard front.

DeChellis - use managers as attackers, let the defence succeed, attack the other basket 5 on 0 on a steal.

Scariolo
a) high post and two-guard front, fullcourt too, defensive transition is always played man-to-man, use the 1-3-1 only when the ball is out of bounds.
b) one-guard front, start with no dribbling, then two-dribble limit, then no restrictions.
