Defence 2-3 basics
| 1 The top of the zone can be overloaded, here by attackers 1-2-3-4. |
| 2 X1 bumps X3 on a pass to 2. |
| 3 Optionally start in a tandem, X1 can take first pass to 2 or 3. |
| 4 Strong ballside coverage when the ball is on the wing, but only one weakside rebounder. |
| 5 Ball reversal
X2 takes the ball on a pass back to 1, or gets back to the initial 2-3 set. |
| 6 On ball reversal to 3, X2 bumps X4 back to the baseline. |
| 7 Options on a pass to the corner
a) Deny a pass back out to the wing.
X1 stays. |
| 8 b) Trap the corner
X1 follows the pass, X2 and X4 rotate (or stay). |
| 9 X2 covers the wing, X4 covers the high post or point. |
| 10 c) Allow a pass back to the wing (less aggressive).
